Senator Martins Thanks Adelphi Breast Cancer Hotline

Since October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Senator Jack M. Martins wanted to personally thank those organizations that have made it a mission to raise awareness and support those who have suffered from breast cancer.

Recently, Senator Martins met with representatives from the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program including bilingual social work supervisor Angela Papalia, bilingual social worker Lois Goetz, program director Hillary Rutter and public relations consultant Lyn Dobrin to thank them for what the hotline has done to help people with breast cancer since it was established in 1980. Any state resident who is concerned with breast cancer can call the hotline at 1-800-877-8077 seven days a week and speak with specially trained, professionally supervised volunteers for information, referrals and emotional support.

“I want to applaud the efforts of Hillary Rutter and all those associated with the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program. The program has provided help for those who have fought this terrible disease since it was formed in 1980. Adelphi is part of the attack against breast cancer as it helps give survivors a weapon to beat breast cancer. I can’t thank them enough for their work,” said Senator Martins. “The resiliency of survivors and the tireless efforts of the many organizations dedicated to awareness and raising funds for research give us all hope that this disease will be beaten once and for all.”
