Senators Visit Henry Viscardi School

Senator Jack M. Martins invited his colleagues, Senator Dean Skelos and Senator Carl Marcellino, for a visit to the Henry Viscardi School in Albertson. The purpose of the visit was for the Senators see the great work that the school does in providing a top-notch education with students who have a disability.

The Henry Viscardi School is one of the true treasures of education. The staff creates a learning and caring environment for all students. I share the school's belief in educational opportunities for all. Students do not let any disabillity stop them from reaching their goals and being successful in their academics and extra-curricular activities. They are a source of inspiration and I am proud to represent them in the New York State Senate."

Serving approximately 184 students, the exceptional staff at the Henry Viscardi School includes highly trained educators, physical and occupational therapists, speech therapists, school nurses, psychologists, and social workers. The Henry Viscardi School is a teaching community of students, parents, teachers, staff, and volunteers dedicated to empowering students with physical disabilities and health impairments to enable them to be active, independent, self sufficient participants in society.
