Senator Alesi's Thanksgiving Day Creative Celebration
James S. Alesi
November 2, 2011
Dear Neighbor,
Thanksgiving is quickly approaching! For generations, millions of Americans have enjoyed celebrating this special time of year, as together we pause to reflect on the many things we have to be grateful for.
To celebrate Thanksgiving Day this year, I am excited to sponsor a Thanksgiving Day Creative Celebration for children in grades K-6. The theme of my Thanksgiving Day Celebration is “What are you thankful for?”
Participating students will have the option to submit electronically, via this form, an original poem, one-page essay, or artwork (8.5 X 11 inches) expressing what they are thankful for in the past year. All submissions will be published in an online book, and participating students will receive a certificate. Please submit your essay, poetry or art work for inclusion in the Thanksgiving Day Showcase by November 28, 2011.
Students are encouraged to not only be creative in their project, but also to convey their appreciation for the people in their lives and their communities. I hope you and your family will participate in this year’s New York State Thanksgiving Day Celebration.
Sincerely,
Jim
