ONEONTA, 09/19/11 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today announced the New York State Insurance Department Mobile Command Center (MCC) will make additional stops in Greene County and Schoharie County to assist residents and business owners with insurance questions they may have following recent storms and flooding.
“As I continue to tour and meet with those who suffered storm damage it is clear additional support is needed to answer insurance questions,” said Senator Seward. “The State Insurance Department Mobile Command Center is a tremendous resource and I am pleased to see it deployed once again to hard hit areas in my district.”
Financial Services Superintendent Benjamin Lawsky joined Senator Seward recently on a tour of flood stricken towns and pledged support for those in need, including deployment of the MCC.
The mobile command center is a 50-foot long van equipped with high-speed internet access and telephone equipment that is being used to help property owners file claims and contact their insurance companies. Insurance Department personnel will also be available to answer consumers' questions.
The mobile command center will be in the following locations:
WEDNESDAY, September 21 – Greene County
14517 Main Street, Prattsville. MCC will park to the right of the FEMA tent.
Hours: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
THURSDAY, September 22 – Schoharie County
Spring Street, Schoharie. MCC will park in the lot for the Schoharie County office building.
Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In addition to the MCC, New Yorkers with questions about insurance are urged to call the New York State Insurance Department's disaster hotline, 1-800-339-1759, Monday though Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Insurance-related information can also be found on the department's website, www.ins.state.ny.us.
