COOPERSTOWN, 08/25/11 -- State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I–Oneonta) recently presented a special legislative resolution from the state senate to the Cooperstown Community Band commemorating its 150th anniversary season.
The Cooperstown Community Band got its start in 1862 during the Civil War when 13 men left Cooperstown to serve as Doubleday’s Band in New York 66th Regiment. Today, the band is made up of approximately 45 volunteer musicians from communities throughout Otsego County and neighboring counties ranging in age from 9 to 89.
