BRONX, NY – State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) announced this week that he helped Pelham Parkway resident Anna Scully get a refund check for over $400 from United Healthcare for an advanced premium payment she made before she was accepted into the EPIC Fee program.
Anna sent a full year’s payment for 2011 to United Healthcare in order to pay her total Medicare Part D Premium in advance. After submitting this payment, Anna was accepted into the EPIC Fee program, a New York State program that helps seniors pay for their prescription drugs by providing secondary coverage. Anna contacted United Healthcare to get a refund for the money she paid in advance but was denied. Last month, Anna turned to Senator Klein’s office for help.
Klein’s office immediately launched an investigation and contacted United Healthcare on Anna’s behalf. After speaking with United Healthcare about Anna’s advanced payment for 2011, Klein’s office was successful in getting Anna a refund check for $496.52.
“I am extremely pleased that we were able to get Anna the refund that she deserved. It is always a pleasure to advocate on behalf of my constituents, particularly when my support can help ensure that they are never charged an excessive amount for health care coverage,” said Senator Jeff Klein (D Bronx/Westchester).
“I can’t thank Senator Klein and his office enough for their assistance in helping me get my refund from United Healthcare. It is remarkable how quickly this issue was resolved thanks to Senator Klein,” said Anna Scully, Pelham Parkway Resident.
