Major Federal Disaster Declared for Nineteen New York Counties Hit by Irene

The President has declared a major disaster in the following counties: Delaware Orange Sullivan Ulster Albany Clinton Dutchess Essex Greene Montgomery Nassau Rensselaer Rockland Saratoga Schenectady Schoharie Suffolk Warren Westchester This qualifies residents and businesses in these counties for direct federal assistance with basic necessities, cleanup and rebuilding efforts. The toll-free numbers will operate from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM seven days a week until further notice. For those who live in counties not been listed above, additional counties could be added in the coming days.
