Senator John Bonacic (R/C/I – Mt. Hope), today announced that the Port Jervis Free Library of the Mid-Hudson Library System in Orange County has been awarded $64,829 in public library construction funds.
The grant funds are from $14 million in capital funds for public library construction provided in the 2010 State Budget. The funds will enable the Port Jervis Free Library to improve the building’s integrity through brick and masonry restoration as well as create new space in the basement for community programs.
“Libraries are an important asset to our communities. Maintaining the public library system in all communities should be a priority. Libraries are a priceless resource to our communities and should not be forgotten. They not only need to be preserved, but to continue to be growing thriving institutions,” said Senator Bonacic.
