Senator John Bonacic (R/C/I – Mt. Hope), today announced that the Saugerties Public Library of the Mid-Hudson Library System in Ulster County has been awarded $33,000 in public library construction funds.
The grant funds are from $14 million in capital funds for public library construction provided in the 2010 State Budget. The funds will enable the Saugerties Public Library to create new space, install energy efficient windows, improve insulation and install radiant heating through floors on the lower level for the children’s library.
“Libraries are an important asset to our communities. Maintaining the public library system in all communities should be a priority. Libraries are a priceless resource to our communities and should not be forgotten. They not only need to be preserved, but to continue to be growing thriving institutions,” said Senator Bonacic.
