Senator Bonacic Announces Construction Grant Awards of $321, 503 to Rampo-Catskill Library System in Sullivan County

Senator John Bonacic (R/C/I – Mt. Hope), today announced that the Ramapo-Catskill Library System in Sullivan County has been awarded $321,503 in public library construction funds. The grant funds are from $14 million in capital funds for public library construction provided in the 2010 State Budget.
 
The Daniel Pierce Library will receive $211,035 to renovate the roof, windows and masonry including chimney and structural restoration on brick walls; install new electrical and a fire alarm system, an overhead canopy on the handicapped walkway; replace the heating system with a geothermal system; an entry and exit reconfiguration; fabricate iron railings, expand library service space by 23,500 sq ft and furnish the new interior space.
 
The Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library will receive $9,643 to reconstruct 1st floor collections and public access points for service to patrons with disabilities, a bi-level distribution point for laptops and other resources for patrons needing wheelchair access as well as construction labor and demolition for reworked space.
 
The Liberty Public Library will receive $98,275 to create an improved patron environment and create energy conservation by strengthening building envelope with new windows and wall systems as well as asbestos abatement through flooring removal.
 
The Livingston  Manor Free Library will receive $2,550 to create a new staircase to the second floor for future public access as well as improve library services to the public. “Libraries are an important asset to our communities. Maintaining the public library system in all communities should be a priority. Libraries are a priceless resource to our communities and should not be forgotten. They not only need to be preserved, but to continue to be growing thriving institutions,” said Senator Bonacic.
