Business Council Recognizes Senator Flanagan’s Commitment To New York Economy

The Business Council of New York State has announced that Senator John Flanagan (2^nd Senate District) has received the highest score of all New York State Senators in their 2011 Voters’ Guide.  The guide measures New York State legislators’ commitment to improving the state’s economic climate and performance by scoring their support for key business legislation during the 2011 session.

Senator Flanagan was proud that his efforts to help businesses across the state were appreciated by the Business Council: “This year, working with my colleagues in the Senate and Governor Cuomo, we made growing New York State’s economy our top priority and I am proud to be recognized for playing a part in that effort.  Last year should serve as a clear sign to the business men and women across this state that New York is again working for them and our state is open for business.”

According to the Business Council’s press release regarding the rankings, Senators and Assembly members were ranked according to their stances on bills considered by the organization to have a significant impact on New York’s economic and business future.  The 11 two-house bills that were utilized in the guide included issues such as the real property tax cap, Medicaid spending reductions and program reforms in the budget.

“As we head into 2012, it is important that everyone in state government recognizes how important the business men and women of our state are to our entire economy.  While we passed some measures last year that will help control spending and reduce the tax burden New Yorkers face, there is much more to be done and it is imperative that we begin working on these issues as soon as possible,” concluded Senator Flanagan.
