Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently had the honor of throwing out the first pitch at a Long Island Ducks game before the team took on the Bridgeport Blue Fish at Bethpage Ballpark in Central Islip. Senator Flanagan delivered the pitch to former New York Met player Bud Harrelson, who is an owner of the Ducks and a coach.
"I appreciate the opportunity to take part in the family-friendly atmosphere the Long Island Ducks have built over the past decade and thank everyone associated with the team for their hospitality. This organization has truly become an integral component of Long Island’s sports culture by providing families in our community with an affordable way to enjoy a professional baseball game up close and they deserve to be congratulated for that commitment to our region,” stated Senator Flanagan.
Senator Flanagan’s first pitch proved to be a lucky charm for the Ducks as they won the game by a score of 8 to 4.
