Senator José M. Serrano Takes New York State Senate Oath of Office

Albany, NY— On Wednesday, January 5th, 2010, Senator José M. Serrano (D- Manhattan/Bronx) took the oath of office for the New York State Senate, marking the beginning of his fourth term in the Legislature.

“I am proud to stand here once again to reaffirm my dedication to the residents of the 28th District. I remain committed to representing their interests here in Albany, and ensuring that their most pressing concerns are addressed within the Legislature," said Serrano. "I will continue fighting to protect public health, conserve our environment, foster economic development, maintain affordable housing, and to achieve social justice for all those who reside in the State of New York. I look forward to working tirelessly with Governor Andrew Cuomo and my Democratic and Republican colleagues to overcome the state’s current fiscal crisis.

“This marks Serrano’s 9th year in public life, having served in the New York City Council from 2002 to 2005, followed by his first term in the Senate, which began in 2005. In Albany, he has become a champion for immigrant rights, environmental conservation, housing, arts and culture, and State Parks, among other notable causes.
