Senator Serrano joined The East Harlem Holiday Tree Committee, East Harlem community residents, and his colleagues for the 8th Annual El Barrio/East Harlem Tree Lighting ceremony. The tree lighting took place in Franklin Plaza and was themed “Noche de Paz”/”Night of Peace.”
“Each year I look forward to gathering with the community to celebrate the start of the holiday season,” said Senator Serrano. “During these difficult fiscal times it’s great to come together and focus on the things that are truly important: friends, neighbors and family.”
This event was sponsored by the East Harlem Business Capital Corporation. Also present for the tree lighting were Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito, Assemblymember Robert Rodriguez, and Congressman José E. Serrano.
