The New York State Federation of the Hispanic Chambers of Commerce honored Senator Serrano with their Green Legislator’s Award for being the most environmentally friendly member of the State Senate.
According to the EPL/Environmental Advocates preliminary scorecard, which tracks legislators’ votes on bills affecting New York’s environment, Senator Serrano had a perfect score of 67 out of 67.
“I represent a district that has some of the highest asthma rates in the country," said the Senator. "We must address these issues head on, and I am proud to have the opportunity to vote on many of our State’s environmental decisions. Our communities are some of the hardest hit when it comes to the environment, and it is up to each one of us to speak out against the environmental hazards affecting our families day after day.”
