For a special Veterans’ Day project, the first- and second-grade students of St. Pancras School in Glendale each wrote and illustrated a personal thanks in the form of construction-paper cards to be hand-delivered by Addabbo to residents of the VA St. Albans Community Care Center. The youngsters had worked for the past several weeks on crafting creative, colorful, expressive greeting cards and letters, to show appreciation for the veterans’ sacrifice and service from World War II to the current deployments to the Middle East.
As representative of the St. Pancras students, on Wednesday morning, November 9, Senator Addabbo visited with the VA St. Albans residents to drop off numerous “Thank-Yous to Vets.” The school’s teachers and the principal had met with the Senator earlier that morning when he picked up the work done by the classes. Senator Addabbo then distributed hundreds of greetings to the veterans, personally delivering heart-felt greetings to each from the school children. The affectionate tokens, filled with expressions of gratitude, were enthusiastically received by the veterans, who were moved, yet delighted, to be remembered by the children in time for the solemn November holiday set aside to recall their commitment and love for their country.
