Addabbo Statement on Receiving Italian Heritage Award

Queens, NY, October 18, 2011 – NYS Senator Joseph Addabbo (D-Queens) released the following statement on being the recipient of the Italian Heritage Award from Congressman Joe Crowley at an Italian Heritage Month celebration hosted by Crowley at F&J Pine Restaurant, 1913 Bronxdale Avenue, Bronx, NY, on Sunday evening, October 16, 2011: 

I am grateful to have been honored by Congressman Joe Crowley and to have received the Italian Heritage Award. Over a century ago, my grandparents came from Italy and instilled in their children two primary principles: the first being the importance of a loving family and the second, the value of a  relentless work ethic. It is these two principles that continue to guide me and my family today.  

During this time of year around Columbus Day, we get to acknowledge and be thankful for the positive influences and contributions of Italian-Americans.
