Taking Care of Central Brooklyn Seniors
Senator Parker helps seniors gain access to an array of services and programs
July 15, 2011 (Brooklyn)– Well-known for his advocacy on behalf of Central Brooklyn senior residents, Senator Parker hosted almost 100 seniors at his annual “Senior Services Day” on Friday, July 15, 2011. Visitors had the opportunity to meet with government agencies as well as community based organizations to give them a better understanding on an array of issues from health care benefits to para-transit services.
“I am pleased to provide Central Brooklyn’s senior residents with the opportunity to obtain important information on issues affecting them and their families,” said Senator Parker. “Seniors will be able to get personalized help and leave with the information they need more quickly than ever before in this special effort. In addition, Seniors Service Day gives us a chance to give back to those who have so much of themselves throughout the years,” continued Parker.
Seniors visiting the event received free one-on-one counseling from the following organizations; the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), the MTA New York City Transit, New York Life Insurance Company, the Alzheimer’s Association, the Social Security Administration, Older Adults Technology Services, and the New York City Department of Aging.
Senator Parker’s 2011 summer mobile series is an annual free event open to Central Brooklyn residents. For more information on a detailed list of Senator Parker’s 2011 summer events calendar, please contact the district office at 718-629-6401 or visit his website at parker.nysenate.gov.
