Senator Malcolm A. Smith (D-St. Albans) was joined by Assemblyman Phil Ramos (D-Brentwood) and Councilman Leroy Comrie (D-St. Albans) for a tour of the St. Albans Community Living Center along with NYC Comptroller John Liu.
The St. Albans Community Living Center is slated to become a modernized medical facility on the 55-acre property which will not include veteran housing and green space. The local Veterans groups and the community feel that it is imperative that veterans have first class accessible health services in the St. Albans community and therefore are promoting a full- service medical hospital.
“Veterans in our community need an emergency medical facility (ER), an extended care facility for female Veterans and rehabilitation services,” said Senator Smith. “The more light we shed on this issue, the more Elected Officials that tour this site, the closer we will be to helping the more than 61,000 veterans that live in Queens alone and the closer we will be to creating a state of the art facility that will provide the services that our veterans so desperately need.”
