Senator Malcolm A. Smith Recognizes Queens Volunteer As Constituent Of The Month

Rene Albritton is being recognized by Senator Malcolm A. Smith as April's Constituent of the Month. Ms. Albritton recently celebrated her 6th Anniversary as a volunteer in Senator Smith’s District Office. She has devoted her time to serve as a community liaison attending monthly meetings at the St. Albans Civic Improvement Association, Inc. and the Ilion Area Block Association, Inc. Her efforts have helped to address some of the issues and concerns affecting area residents.
“It is the custom of my office to pay tribute on a monthly basis to those constituents whose life’s work and civic endeavors serve to enhance the quality of life in our community. Ms. Albritton demonstrates her commitment and is one of those individuals who volunteers of their time and gives of themselves to make Southeast Queens a better place to live, work and do business. Therefore, it is my pleasure to grant her this recognition,” said Senator Smith.
Rene Albritton said, “ I am delighted that Senator Smith has given me this distinct honor. I enjoy volunteering and I look forward to at least another six years as a volunteer in Senator Smith’s Office.”
Ms. Albritton is also an active member of the St. Albans Branch of the Friends of the Library since its chartering in 1992 where she has served as Corresponding Secretary, Editor of the newsletter and Membership Chairperson. As a Queens Library volunteer, she also assists the St. Albans Children’s Librarian in the Summer Reading Program and participates in the Night Out Against Crime every August.
Rene Albritton is a product of the New York City Public School System, having graduated from the High School of Music &Art (now LaGuardia High School of Music & Performing Arts). She then went on to obtain her degree from NYU and after graduation lived in Paris for six months.

Malcolm A. Smith is the New York State Senate Immediate Past President Pro Tempore (2008-10). He currently serves as Secretary of the NYS Democratic Conference and ranking member on the Banking Committee.
