(St. Albans, NY)- Senator Malcolm A. Smith (D-St. Albans) and the New York State Senate passed legislation to form a State Trooper Highway Memorial Task Force to bring attention to fallen State Troopers who dedicated their lives to protecting New Yorkers.
“Our State Troopers put their lives on the line everyday and place the safety of others above their own,” said Senator Smith. “With the passage of this legislation the heroes who have fallen in the line of duty will get the gratitude they so significantly deserve and their loved ones can take solace in knowing that we appreciate their sacrifice.”
Along with presenting all New York State Troopers with a sense of appreciation this task force will establish guidelines for recognition of those who have died in the line of duty which will result in placing a memorial plaque in observance or dedicating a portion of the state highway system.
The bill has been referred to the assembly.
