Search Continues For Missing Brooklyn Boy Leibby Kletzky

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Dozens of Borough Park residents spent the night searching for 9-year-old Leibby Kletzky. The boy has been missing for over 12 hours.

Leibby was supposed to meet his mother at 5 p.m. Monday after leaving day camp in Brooklyn, but never showed up.

Those with the Flatbush Shomrim Safety Patrol said they’ve seen surveillance video that shows the little boy leaving the camp, but there was no sign of him otherwise.

Almost immediately people in the community came out to search, continuing through the overnight hours.

It’s unclear if Leibby’s disappearance is suspicious, but residents said they’re not taking any chances.

“Everywhere, up and down the neighborhood, every single block, every park, and so have hundreds of others,” one resident told Thorne.

“We have 2,000 people searching for the kid. We went through every backyard, every front yard, every possibility,” search coordinator Shi Lichtenstein told WCBS 880′s Mike Xirinachs.

“How can people help? Just the average person living here, how can people help you right now?” asked Xirinachs.

“Just by searching,” answered Lichtenstein.

The boy is described as 4 feet, 4 inches tall with dark hair, wearing black glasses, a striped shirt, and was carrying a knapsack.

Foul play has not been ruled out.
