Senator Golden Asks Community to Support Drive to Support Our Soldiers and Toys for Tots Campaign During This Holiday Season

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, 22nd District) today is announcing the kick off of his annual holiday troop drive and is asking the community to once again show its gratitude for our soldiers and support our heroes this holiday season. Senator Golden is also announcing his partnership with the Toys for Tots campaign and is asking residents to consider donating new, unwrapped, toys to brighten the holidays for military children.
Senator Marty Golden, a member of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security, Military and Veterans Affairs stated, “Many of our troops are soon coming home but many will still spend this holiday season overseas. It is important that we continue to say thank you to the brave men and women serving in the Armed Forces by making sure they have the personal items they need. The troops of the United States have devoted their life and their career to the protection of our nation.”
Golden continued, “I know that this community will show tremendous support for both the troop drive and the Toys for Tots campaign. Our neighborhood recognizes the sacrifices made by our military and their families and we will continue to support them.”
Suggested donations include: tube socks (Green/Black), Tan and Green T-shirts, unscented baby powder, games (Domino’s, Checkers, Chess) chap stick/lip balm, batteries, Long Johns, snacks, phone cards, batteries, baby wipes, Pop Tarts, shaving cream, razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, sun screen, toilet paper, mac and cheese, mouthwash, toiletries, canned goods, snacks chips, powdered drinks, cup of soup, DVD’s, books, magazines, sun block, flea, envelopes, pens and pencils, paperback books, playing cards, tick and lice powder, and holiday cards.
Donations for the troop drive will be accepted until Friday, December 9 2011 during normal business hours at Senator Golden’s District Office located at 7408-5th Avenue or at his office at 3604 Quentin Road, on Monday and Friday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.
