68th Pct. To Provide Safety Services, FDNY To Distribute Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detectors

Brooklyn – State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is announcing plans to host a neighborhood town fair on Thursday, October 27, 2011 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Shore Hill, located at 9000 Shore Road.

The event, which will feature an opportunity for residents to have one on one conversations with City agencies in an informational fair setting, will also feature a town hall question and answer meeting. The 68th Precinct Crime Prevention Team will provide Operation Identification, V.I.N., the Etching Program, and Bicycle Registration. The Fire Department will be distributing smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors as well.

Senator Golden has invited the following governmental agencies to also attend including the Departments of Buildings, Environmental Protection, Sanitation, Finance, Transportation, Parks, the Brooklyn Public Library and the New York State Energy Research Development Authority.

Senator Marty Golden stated, “I am hopeful that local residents will attend and speak with my staff or any of the agencies in attendance, about any issues or concerns they may be having that is affecting their quality of life. Whether you have a question about a parking ticket or a water bill, or want to make a complaint about a street light that is not working or question your property tax bill, it is important that you attend this meeting.”

Golden continued, “I also would invite the community to attend this meeting and take advantage of the services being offered by the NYPD to improve your personal safety. And, as we soon will be setting back our clocks, this is a great time to check that our smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are working, and so FDNY will be providing new ones free of charge at the meeting.”

Light refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Senator Golden’s office at (718) 238-6044 or visit his website at www.golden.nysenate.gov.
