Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District), this week welcomed the 2011 “State Senator for a Day” contest winner, St. Anselm’s Roman Catholic School 7th Grade student Samantha Najjar, to the State Capitol in Albany. Senator Golden invites the contest winner to visit him in Albany.
Samantha Najjar was selected as the winner of the 2011 Senator For A Day essay contest from more than 30 students who presented their essays before a panel of judges at a ceremony held in May at Public School 204. In her essay, she focused on quality of life such as parking problems in the area, a shortage of both gas stations and grocery stores, as well as the need to help businesses on our local streets through tax incentives.
Senator Marty Golden stated, “I am proud to have welcomed the future of our community and our 2011 State Senator for a Day, Samantha Najjar and her class, to Albany. I believe the students find the trip to be both educational and fun, and what better prize to offer our winning student, than a trip to the State Capitol.”
