Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District) today is announcing that the New York City Department of Transportation has approved his requests to install a traffic light at a busy intersection in the immediate vicinity of the parish and school at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Bensonhurst.
The Department of Transportation has approved a new traffic signal at the intersection of 15th Avenue and 74th Street and the light should be installed by May 31st.
“For the vehicular and pedestrian safety at these intersections, I am pleased to have worked with the Department of Transportation to have these safety measures installed,” said Senator Marty Golden, “Each time a dangerous and busy intersection is approved for a traffic light, we eliminate danger and have the opportunity to see safer streets.”
Senator Golden continued, “The need for a traffic light at this intersection was first brought to my attention at a town hall meeting I hosted last Fall by the Home School Association of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Being the corner of a school, the fact that motorists often rushed to make the light at Bay Ridge Parkway and 15th Avenue was of serious concern to all parents, teachers, and students, as well as local area residents.”
Senator Golden encourages residents to report dangerous intersections to his office to be considered for traffic studies. Senator Golden’s office can be reached at (718) 238-6044 or on the internet at www.golden.nysenate.gov.
