Senator Nozzolio Announces His Participation in Memorial Day Ceremonies

New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio will be honoring our veterans by participating in Memorial Day events throughout his Senate District on Saturday, May 28th and Monday, May 30th.

“We have no greater obligation than to honor and thank our veterans for their service to our nation, whether in times of peace or in times of war,” said Senator Nozzolio. “Just as our veterans recognized their duty to honor and serve their Country, we too must recognize our duty as Americans to honor the profound sacrifices they made so that we could live our lives in freedom.”

Saturday, May 28th

Waterloo- Senator Nozzolio will join in the celebration of Waterloo, New York as the Nationally-recognized birthplace of Memorial Day by helping to lead the Celebrate Commemorate Memorial Day Parade, beginning at 11:00 am on the Corner of Clark Street and Main Street. The parade is part of the annual Celebrate Commemorate weekend of special events recognizing the service and sacrifice of our veterans and providing enjoyable entertainment for the entire community. Monday, May 30th

 Webster- Senator Nozzolio will participate in the Webster Memorial Day Parade and speak at a community-wide Memorial Day Service paying tribute to our Nation’s servicemen and women. The parade will begin at 9:30 am at Spry Middle School, proceed east on Sanford Street to South Ave., north on South Ave. to Main Street, then move west to Webster Rural Cemetery, where the service will be held beginning around 10:00 am.

Interlaken- Beginning at 1:30 pm, Senator Nozzolio will march in the Interlaken Memorial Day Parade along Main Street ending at the Town Hall of Covert. At the Town Hall, Senator Nozzolio will help unveil and dedicate the new All-War Veterans Memorial at a special ceremony beginning at 2 pm. The All-War Veterans Memorial was established through the planning, saving and fundraising efforts of Dick Bauer, a Vietnam War veteran and former Army Warrant Officer, to honor all of our Nation’s veterans, past, present and future.

Waterloo-  Senator Nozzolio will march with local veterans groups in the 145th annual Waterloo Memorial Day parade, beginning at 6:00 pm. The parade will form at the corner of East Main and Clark Streets and move to Lafayette Park for a ceremony honoring our Nation’s veterans. Senator Nozzolio will speak at the ceremony, which begins at 6:30 pm.

“Memorial Day is a powerful reminder that the freedom we enjoy as Americans is not free, but paid for with the courage, valor and sadly, the lives of thousands of our fellow Americans. I look forward to joining veterans throughout our region who fought valiantly to defend our freedoms as we commemorate this honored tradition,” said Senator Nozzolio.

“On Memorial Day, we remember those heroes who never returned and are grateful for those that did,” Senator Nozzolio concluded. “We honor and thank all of our veterans and our soldiers currently serving our Country for their dedication and service to our great nation.”
