State Senator Mike Nozzolio is reminding students in grades K-6 that they can still participate in the New York State Senate’s Thanksgiving Day Creative Celebration until Monday, November 28th. Students are encouraged to submit their original essays, poetry or art work for inclusion in an online Thanksgiving Day Showcase. The theme of the Thanksgiving Day Celebration is “What are you thankful for?”
“For generations, Americans nationwide have enjoyed celebrating this special time of year, when we pause to reflect on the many things we have to be grateful for,” said senator Nozzolio. “This Thanksgiving, I am encouraging the young people in our communities to express themselves creatively in thanking all of the people who have made a difference in their lives.”
Students who participate in the program will have the option to submit an original one-page essay, poem or artwork (81/2 x 11 inches) expressing what they are thankful for in the past year. Submissions can be sent electronically through the State Senate website here. All entries will be published in an online book that is free to download. Participating students will also receive a special certificate from Senator Nozzolio.
“It is my hope that local school children take part in this program and that everyone in our community has a happy and healthy Thanksgiving season,” concluded Senator Nozzolio.
