Governor Signs NYSUNY 2020 Legislation

(Albany, NY) Senator Neil D. Breslin (D – Delmar) is pleased to report that Governor Cuomo signed legislation to implement the NYSUNY 2020 Challenge Grant Program and institute a rational tuition plan for SUNY. With this new law, New York State’s university system is now positioned to be a catalyst for economic growth across New York State, while also providing for a tuition plan that will keep a college education affordable for working families.
"I want to thank Governor Cuomo for his leadership on this issue. SUNY plays a vital role in the lives of many New Yorkers and in our state’s economic wellbeing. Our students and faculty depend on a vibrant system of public higher education; one that can is affordable and offers top quality academic programs,” explained Senator Breslin. “Thanks to Governor Cuomo’s support, a rational tuition policy will enable all SUNY campuses to continue to offer an excellent education to students from all walks of life, and the Challenge Grant Program will place our public universities in the driver’s seat, leading our state’s economic recovery.”
