Senator Owen H. Johnson joined local officials and representatives from the Bohlsen Women’s Imaging Center and the North Shore-LIJ Imaging Center at Great South Bay to celebrate the grand opening of their 620 Main Street facility in Islip.  The event, which took place on Thursday, December 9, 2010, marked the opening of the combined diagnostic imaging center and women’s health imaging center which occupies two floors of the 10,000-square foot complex.  The combined imaging center includes the latest in high quality resolution, low-dose radiation technology for disciplines such as cardiology, neurology, orthopedics and breast imaging, among others.

The North Shore-LIJ Imaging Center at Great South Bay, located on the first floor of the facility provides diagnostic imaging services such as 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and a 64-slice computed tomography (CT) system, offering the highest-resolution images of the human body.  The Bohlsen Women’s Imaging Center on the second floor, provides specialized screenings for women, including a comprehensive breast center, mammography and ultrasound services, stereotactic biopsy and bone density screenings.  The imaging center assists nearby Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in providing state-of-the-art care to patients.
