Senator Owen H. Johnson posed with Poppy Girl Adrianna Ciancuielli of Holbrook for a photo opportunity at the conclusion of the Memorial Day Parade in Babylon on May 30, 2011. Adrianna, age 7, is a member of the Junior Ladies’ Auxiliary VFW Post #94. She was chosen to receive the “Poppy Girl” 2011 title to represent VFW Post #94 and to help distribute the handmade poppy lapel pins in exchange for donations to benefit veterans’ programs.
After the Memorial Day events, Adrianna gave a presentation to her first grade class about her responsibilities as “Poppy Girl” and about the meaning of Memorial Day and freedom.
