Bringing Help WITH State Government to You

Last Thursday, I met Lexi, a therapy dog at The Chatty K-9, a combination pet store, dog grooming and dog training business in the village of Central Square.
I was spending the day in Central Square as part of my second mobile district office program that I started last month to help make it easier for the residents of Central and Northern New York to get help from their state government.
Since January, I have opened full-time offices in Oswego County, Jefferson County and St. Lawrence County where my staff is available five days a week to help with state or other government offices.
I opened offices in each of the counties I represent because too many people have told me they feel their state and the folks who are supposed to be representing them have lost touch with what every day New Yorkers are facing during these difficult financial times.
That’s why I make it a point to visit people and businesses in each county almost every week to hear their concerns myself so I can make sure our state leaders in Albany hear them.
But I also realize that in our rural communities, it’s not always easy for people to get to my local offices.
That’s why I decided to take my office on the road by going to communities like Central Square so my staff and I can talk to constituents about how I can help them with their state government.
Last month, I started my mobile office program by hosting the first one in Mexico.
With one of the largest Senate Districts geographically in the New York State legislature, encompassing more than 50 townships, I plan to eventually hold mobile office visits in every township in all three counties to help bring state government closer to those it serves.
