McDonald Requests FEMA Director Include Rensselaer & Saratoga Counties to List for Disaster Relief Aid
August 31, 2011
August 31, 2011 - Troy -Senator Roy McDonald has requested that the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Director Craig Fugate include Rensselaer and Saratoga Counties onto the list of counties in New York that will be eligible for emergency disaster relief funds.
“Traveling throughout the affected areas has allowed me to witness the havoc created by Hurricane Irene in Rensselaer and Southern Saratoga Counties,” said McDonald. “The significant damage caused by this storm is justification for these two counties to be included and eligible for emergency relief funding to help our local communities.”
Inclusion to the list will allow Rensselaer and Saratoga County residents or businesses to be eligible for low-cost loans to cover uninsured or underinsured property losses and grants for temporary housing and business repairs. The goal of this financial support is to help individuals and business owners recover from the storm’s destruction.
McDonald also recognized the hard work of Governor Cuomo, local elected officials and emergency first responders for their dedication to protect those in need and help rebuild the area.
“I want to thank the emergency responders who have risked their own safety to help others, and who have shown incredible dedication to their communities. I also applaud the efforts of local elected officials and Governor Cuomo during these challenging times,” said McDonald.
