Advice from Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz to Governor Andrew Cuomo
New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) has released the following statement in response to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s People First Campaign:
“It’s appalling to know that as rent stabilization and rent control laws are set to expire next month, Governor Andrew Cuomo has declared that the top priorities for his agenda include three other issues: same-sex marriage, a property tax cap, and ethics reform.
Our rent stabilization and rent control laws protect 2.5 million New Yorkers – many poor and needy, and mostly Black and Hispanics. These families depend upon rent protection for affordable housing
It is a shame that Governor Andrew Cuomo is using his efforts and the resources of the Governor’s office to push for homosexual marriage instead of saving New York’s rent control and rent stabilization laws.
Governor Cuomo should make rent control and rent stabilization laws his top priority.
Governor Cuomo, please help New York’s poor and needy people by saving rent control and rent stabilization laws instead of pushing for gay marriage!”
