Albany, N.Y., January 27—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) announced today that the Steuben County League of Women Voters is currently accepting applications from area high school students interested in participating in the 11th Annual “Students Inside Albany” conference sponsored by the League of Women Voters of New York State.
Through the annual conference, scheduled to take place this year from April 10-13, select high school students from across New York spend several days in Albany learning about state government and politics. Students also spend an afternoon “shadowing” state legislators to get a firsthand look at New York’s legislative process.
“The League of Women Voters offers a great opportunity through the annual ‘Students Inside Albany’ conference for high school students from throughout the state to participate in New York government,” said O’Mara. “It’s a worthwhile initiative to help instill a stronger sense of public service among our young people and future leaders.”
O’Mara said that any local students interested in obtaining more information or in applying should contact Linda Ferris at the Steuben County League of Women Voters by calling 607-776-7101, or by email (lindaf14810@yahoo.com).
