Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) urged all elementary school students (K-6) to participate in the New York State Senate's Thanksgiving Day Creative Celebration program. "This is a wonderful opportunity for children to truly express their feelings for the people in their lives, their communities and how they feel about Thanksgiving," said Senator Larkin. "I urge all students to add their unique contributions to this online book and make it a truly memorable keepsake for everyone to enjoy."
The theme for this new program is "What are you thankful for?" and participating students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade will have the option to submit electronically, via larkin.nysenate.gov, an original poem, one-page essay, or art work (81/2 x 11 inches) expressing what they are thankful for in the past year.
All submissions will be published in an online free-to-download book, and participating students will receive a certificate from Senator Larkin. To contribute to the Thanksgiving Day Showcase book, please visit larkin.nysenate.gov to complete the registration form and upload your poem, essay, or art work. Students have until November 28, 2011 to submit their entries.
