Senator Espaillat pledges to work closely with the mayor and borough president to bring well-paying jobs to the BronxSenator Adriano Espaillat (D – Manhattan/Bronx) congratulated Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. on reaching an agreement that will result in the redevelopment of the Kingsbridge Armory. Senator Espaillat released the following statement:
“I congratulate Mayor Bloomberg and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. on reaching an agreement to launch the redevelopment of the Kingsbridge Armory, which will bring hundreds of new, well-paying jobs to the Bronx. Today’s announcement is welcomed news for all of us who are working to boost economic security for poor and middle-class New Yorkers hard-hit in this economy.
“As a sponsor of legislation that will increase minimum wage in New York, I am pleased by Mayor Bloomberg’s support for this approach. By increasing the minimum wage, we will directly help working-families, increase economic activity in the market, and help millions of New Yorkers survive in an increasingly expensive state.
“As the City issues Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Kingsbridge Armory project, I pledge to work closely with Mayor Bloomberg and Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. in helping revitalize the Bronx economy and putting New Yorkers back to work throughout our city and state.”
