February 28, 2012
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that the New York State Senate recently passed a legislative resolution he sponsored honoring North Bellmore resident Matthew Murphy for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.
“Only a select few ever achieve what Matthew has; the rank of Eagle Scout. Matthew’s years of hard work, dedication to scouting, and community service make him more than worthy to hold scouting’s highest rank. I congratulate him on earning this honor and am pleased that his accomplishment was recognized by the New York State Senate,” said Senator Fuschillo.
Matthew, a member of Troop 577, recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout after many years of hard work rising through scouting’s ranks and following the ideals of scouting. During his time in scouting, Matthew has served his troop as Quartermaster, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, and Assistant Scoutmaster. Additionally, he planned, developed, and executed a community service project which involved updating and painting the interior of North Bellmore American Legion Post 1749.
With the Senate passage of the legislative resolution, Matthew’s name and achievement will forever be part of the New York State Senate’s official record.
