Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.
June 26, 2012
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that the New York State Senate recently passed a legislative resolution he sponsored honoring Seaford resident Richard Grant Canter upon attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.
“Earning the rank of Eagle Scout is no easy task. It takes years of hard work and community service to attain scouting’s highest rank, and Richard should be very proud of this great achievement,” said Senator Fuschillo. “He is a community-minded young man whose perseverance and determination will no doubt enable him to achieve any goal he sets for himself. I am pleased that the New York State Senate has recognized Richard’s remarkable accomplishment and congratulate him on this distinguished honor,” said Senator Fuschillo.
Richard is a member of Troop 239 and after rising through the scouting ranks, successfully developed and executed a community service project to restore the 2,400 square-foot Children’s Garden of Remembrance for the Maria Regina Roman Catholic Church. The garden is a memorial for deceased members of the church and the surrounding community, including victims of the September 11th attacks.
With the Senate passage of this legislative resolution, Richard’s name and achievement will forever be part of the New York State Senate’s official record.
