Senator Fuschillo, Assemblyman Mcdonough, Councilwoman Cullin & American Red Cross to Sponsor Blood Drive on March 29th

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today announced that he is partnering with Assemblyman David McDonough (R-North Merrick), Town of Hempstead Councilwoman Angie Cullin, and the American Red Cross in sponsoring a blood drive on March 29th.

     The blood drive will be held at the Freeport Recreation Center, located at 130 East Merrick Road in Freeport, from 1 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, March 29th.

     Individuals wishing to donate blood must be 17 years of age (or 16 with parental permission in New York State), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on the donor’s height) be in generally good health, and not have donated blood within the previous 56 days. All eligible volunteer blood donors must also bring a photo ID with them.

     Each pint of donated blood can help save up to 3 lives. According to the American Red Cross, approximately 3,000 units of blood must be distributed every day just to meet the basic needs of area patients.

     Residents wishing to donate blood are encouraged to make an appointment, but walk-ins are welcome. Appointments for the March 29th blood drive can be scheduled by visiting http://www.redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
