Senator Fuschillo & Assemblyman Mcdonough Join WITH Mepham Students and Cablevision in Helping to “Delete Cyber-Bullying”

        Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and Assemblyman David McDonough (R-North Merrick) recently joined with Mepham High School and Cablevision in encouraging students to take an active stand against cyber-bullying.

        The “Delete Cyberbullying” event, part of Cablevision’s Power to Learn education initiative, featured Mepham High School upperclassmen making presentations to freshmen students about the impact cyberbullying has on its victims. Through an audience survey, video, power point presentation, and a storytelling skit, students talked about the damage that cyberbullying can cause, steps they can take to stop cyber-bullying, and the importance of looking out for one another and not being a bystander if they see cyber-bullying occurring.

        Following the presentation, students signed a pledge promising to be part of the solution, not the problem when it comes to cyberbullying.

        “Cyberbullying affects far too many children. The best way students can learn about the harmful effects of cyberbullying and the importance of stopping it is to hear it from their peers. Mepham’s students did a great job giving a very informative and powerful presentation which helped reinforce why students need to look out for one another and be proactive against cyberbullying. They should be very proud of themselves,” said Senator Fuschillo.
