SENATOR FUSCHILLO & DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL SERVICES TO BRING FORECLOSURE PREVENTION PROGRAM TO RESIDENTS ON MARCH 16th

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today announced that he is partnering with the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) to help provide services to homeowners facing foreclosure.

     Senator Fuschillo has arranged for specialists from DFS to bring the Department’s Mobile Command Center to Marjorie Post Park, located on the corner of Merrick Road and Unqua Road in Massapequa, from 11 am to 7 pm on Friday, March 16th to assist residents in danger of losing their homes.

     “Families that are struggling to stay in their homes in the current economy need to know there are services available to help them. Through this program, residents can speak one-on-one with trained professionals and learn about services to help them stay in their homes. I thank the Department of Financial Services for partnering with me offer this important service to local residents,” said Senator Fuschillo. 

     As part of the program, DFS specialists will be available to speak individually with homeowners facing foreclosure, assess where they are in the pre-foreclosure or foreclosure process, and provide them with: 

     * Information about specific loan modification programs which may be available to them.

     * Guidance on how they can file complaints with the Department so that suspected cases of lender or mortgage servicer abuses, such as predatory lending practices, can be investigated.

     Homeowners should bring copies of their mortgage documents, loan payment records, letters from their lenders or mortgage servicers, or any other information relevant to their personal situation which could be useful to DFS staff in helping to provide assistance. No appointments are necessary.
