SENATOR FUSCHILLO, MAYOR HARDWICK & DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL SERVICES TO BRING FORECLOSURE PREVENTION PROGRAM TO FREEPORT ON MAY 18th

Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

April 26, 2012

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is partnering with the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) and Mayor Andrew Hardwick and the Village of Freeport to help provide services to homeowners facing foreclosure.

Senator Fuschillo and Mayor Hardwick have arranged with DFS to bring its Mobile Foreclosure Relief Center to the Village of Freeport on Friday, May 18th. The Mobile Center will be stationed in the Freeport Train Station Parking lot at the northeast corner of Sunrise Highway and Henry Street from 11 am to 7 pm to assist residents in danger of losing their homes.

As part of the program, DFS specialists will be available to speak individually with homeowners facing foreclosure, assess where they are in the pre-foreclosure or foreclosure process, and provide them with:

     * Information about specific loan modification programs which may be available to them.

     * Guidance on how they can file complaints about suspected lender or mortgage servicer abuses, such as predatory lending practices.

Homeowners should bring copies of their mortgage documents, loan payment records, letters from their lenders or mortgage servicers, or any other information relevant to their personal situation which could be useful to DFS staff in helping to provide assistance. The program is open to everyone and no appointments are necessary.

Residents who would like more information about the May 18th Foreclosure Prevention Program can call Senator Fuschillo’s office at 516-882-0630.
