Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that he will be partnering with the Wantagh and Massapequa Fire Departments in offering free Citizen CPR courses to residents on Saturday, October 27, 2012.
The courses will be held at the Wantagh Fire Department Headquarters, located at 3470 Park Avenue in Wantagh from 10:00 am to 11:00 am and at the Massapequa Fire Station located at 515 Hicksville Road in Massapequa from 10:00 am-11:00 am and 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Trained CPR professionals will instruct residents on what to do when in an emergency situation where someone needs CPR.
Program participants will learn live-saving, hands-only CPR techniques from a certified CPR instructor and be able to practice CPR chest compressions on a mannequin. AED demonstrations will also be performed.
“There is no way to predict when a medical emergency will arise in which just a few minutes could mean the difference in saving someone’s life. Learning basic CPR will help you know what to do in an emergency and possibly save someone’s life,” said Senator Fuschillo.
There is no minimum age or prerequisites to participate. Those interested in taking part in these free programs must register prior to the event by calling Senator Fuschillo’s office at 516-882-0630.
