Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), in conjunction with the Integrated Medical Foundation, will be sponsoring a free prostate cancer screening program in Copiague.
The free screening program will be held on Thursday, June 28th between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm at the Copiague Library, which is located at 50 Deauville Boulevard in Copiague. The free screenings will be conducted by Dr. Barry Shepard of Advanced Urology Centers of New York.
The Integrated Medical Foundation’s guidelines for the program are as follows:
- Open to all men over the age of 40 who have not previously been diagnosed with prostate cancer, regardless of whether or not they have insurance;
- Screenings will include a PSA blood test and a digital rectal exam;
- Men who will be getting screened must bring a photo ID containing an address, such as a driver’s license;
- Patients wishing to be notified of the exam results should bring 2 stamped envelopes: one addressed to themselves and the other to their doctor.
Appointments are recommended but walk-ins will be accepted. Screening appointments will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Men who would like to schedule an appointment for a free prostate cancer screening should call Senator Fuschillo’s office at 516-882-0630.
