Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently visited Centennial Avenue Elementary School in Roosevelt to thank the students for participating in a food drive he sponsored to benefit families in need.
All the food collected by the Centennial Avenue students will be used by Long Island Cares: the Harry Chapin Food Bank, which serves a network of over 540 community based organizations, including food pantries, soup kitchens, child care programs, disability organizations, and veterans services. The students’ efforts will provide much needed help to the over 300,000 Long Islanders who don’t know where their next meal is going to come from.
“Centennial’s students did a great job and have helped to make a difference in the lives of many families. I appreciate their efforts and thank them for all their hard work,” said Senator Fuschillo.
