NEW YORK – Tomorrow, State Senator Daniel Squadron will bring together the Department of Transportation, the Department of Environmental Protection, and the Department of Sanitation with Chinatown business owners and community leaders to discuss how best to prevent and address road-curb ponding, after Senator Squadron’s report on the issue prompted DOT action.
The meeting, to be held at 2:15PM tomorrow at the CCBA, follows DOT’s commitment to undertake a ‘pothole blitz’ and repair a number of Chinatown streets in response to Senator Squadron’s September 2011 report, "Road-Curb Ponding: A Drain on Chinatown." The report found that ponding is particularly prevalent in Chinatown, and that the issue harms the neighborhood’s economy and quality of life.
