VALENTINE’S DAY COMES EARLY FOR LOCAL HEROES
Kids Give Heartfelt Thanks to Veterans
Nanuet, NY – (February 8, 2012) – Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Senator David Carlucci on Friday will host his second annual “Valentines for Veterans Celebration” where 60 fourth grade students from Pearl River’s Franklin Avenue Elementary School will be presenting valentines and singing tribute songs to Rockland County’s brave veterans and featured guests.
The “Valentines for Veterans” effort has brought millions of Valentine’s Day cards to our nation’s heroic men and women who have sacrificed so much to protect our nation. The event coincides with National Salute to Veteran Patients Week (February 13-19) and allows the opportunity for the public to join in the recognition.
The songs scheduled to be performed by the students include Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, God Bless the USA, and Proud of our Veterans.
The presentation, which will be held at the Senator’s Veterans Advisory Committee meeting, will feature special guest William Kraus, Acting Director of the New York State Division of Veterans Affairs. The event will include up to 60 local veterans that provide strategic advice on local issues of concern, as well as legislative proposals and ideas to take with him up to Albany.
