Nyack Hospital, Senator Carlucci to Host Free Breast Cancer Screenings for Uninsured and Underinsured Women in Rockland

NYACK HOSPITAL TO HOST FREE BREAST CANCER SCREENINGS FOR UNINSURED AND UNDERINSURED WOMEN IN ROCKLAND COUNTY

NYACK, NY (June 8, 2012) -  On June 8th from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Nyack Hospital will host FREE Breast Cancer Screenings for uninsured and underinsured women in Rockland County.  The screenings include routine Mammography and Clinical Breast Exams.  This cancer screening event is grant funded by the Cancer Services Program of the Hudson Valley Region in partnership with Nyack Hospital, and, in part, with a grant from Capital One.  Refreshments will be provided by New York State Senator David Carlucci. 

“A Breast Cancer screening is a vital test that all women over 40 need to have on a yearly basis,” stated Patricia Joseph, MD, Director of Breast and Women’s Health Prevention Services at Nyack Hospital.  “We are so pleased to be able to offer this service for a second time this year to the underinsured and uninsured women in Rockland County. We hope women in our community will take advantage of this opportunity.”

"Breast cancer remains a serious hazard to a woman's health and well-being, thus it is critical we do everything in our ability to prevent this disease from the outset," said Senator Carlucci. "I am excited to be co-sponsoring this event with Nyack Hospital for the second year in a row, and it is my sincere hope that more women age 40 and over will be able to take advantage of these life-saving services."
