WEST NYACK – Continuing his efforts to highlight cultural diversity in Rockland County, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) on Friday visited Strawtown Elementary School to present second grade student and grand prize winner Isabella Masionette an award for her artwork design in his Hispanic Heritage Month Poster Contest.
The artwork competition was organized by Senator Carlucci’s office to celebrate and promote awareness of National Hispanic Heritage Month, a month-long celebration that recognizes contributions Hispanic Americans have made to American society and culture.
Students were encouraged to share their designs with their school classroom and art teachers while educators would encourage participation.
Isabella’s parents and Principal Deirdra O’Connor were also on hand for the ceremony to show their support.
